Hybrid work is here to stay!

8:10 – Forbes’s number 1 thing they pointed out is employee well-being. See the full report from Forbes here.

9:45 – Company culture and relationships at work as critical to the future of work are listed as well as critical to work performance. Coaching and support and training and development were also listed as priorities in work well-being. Jason says the best teams the organizations are being proactive in all of these areas meaning they are invested with their time, their dollars, and their people to honor well-being in many forms.

11:30 – Jason lists a second important trend in much of the research, employees seek companies whose values match their own. Forbes lists that 75-80% of workers want to be part of a company that is a force for good in society and has values that are compelling to me personally and those around me at work. See more details here. People want to be heard and share in the creation of your culture. Jason shares some incredibly important detail on the importance of inclusion.

15:30Hybrid work is here to stay! Jason shares insights on the new work environments that he sees and what it means for the future predictions of work in 2022 and beyond. Studies show that many employees prefer some form of hybrid work. 63% of high-growth companies have adopted a hybrid model of strong performance anywhere. Not everyone thrives with hybrid or remote work and it can be a struggle for some organizations. The important thing is what works best for your team and organization?

20:20 – 44% of people surveyed said that building a culture of lifelong learning was number 1 for organizations in terms of having an organization that builds connections for employees to learn and grow is essential according to an HR survey from Forbes to pick the top 3 challenges they are facing. Jason says that all of this is connected to that hybrid environment. It doesn’t just happen all at once, it has to be intentional and programs have to be created to better foster learning within the organization.

21:40 – What does it all mean? Jason shares that the research tells us that people will go work somewhere else if we don’t respond to these needs and the well-being of our employees and team. Getting back to work is important but now is the time to build a new foundation for your work environment to provide a better future for your organization and for your people.

Questions to Ponder

  1. What are you doing to promote well-being and collective culture shaping?
  2. What can be done intentionally to engage remote workers and that hybrid environment?
  3. How will you embrace a culture of life-long learning on your team?

“We all breathe energy into new habits, whether positive or negative every day.

What are we breathing in today?”

ABOUT THE THERMOSTAT

Conversations and micro-thoughts to engage your mind and heart.

A thermostat is proactive. It sets the temperature in a room. Controls the temperature. Regulates the temperature. But in today’s distracted, fast-paced and digital world, it’s easy for individuals and organizations to act more like thermometers, slipping into reactionary thinking, becoming scattered and inconsistent. The most compelling leaders, teams, organizations, families, or collection of humans of any kind operate in thermostat mode. They calibrate their mind and heart to set the temperature for the vision and culture they want to create. Jason Barger, globally celebrated author, keynote speaker, and founder of Step Back Leadership Consulting, is the host of The Thermostat, a podcast journey to discover authentic leadership, create compelling cultures and find clarity of mission, vision, and values.
