“Positive leadership does not run or hide from the obstacles we might be facing”

6:48 – What is positive leadership? Jason is not talking about just being the “aww shucks, come on everybody just stay positive”. This is not about pretending that the tough obstacles don’t exist or that we are doing all of this to just stay positive. That is fairy tale leadership and it hides the challenges and opportunities we are facing. The role as a leader is not to just stay positive. It is to model for people by facing challenges and being honest about what is going on.

8:40 – Positive leadership does not run or hide from the obstacles we might be facing says, Jason. In fact, positive leaders are direct and willing to name the challenges, the obstacles, and the imperfections, and are willing to be vulnerable, and willing to acknowledge the tough times we are all going through or experiencing while still believing in a future we can create together. Look at your challenges right in front of your eyes and choose to believe in the future that WE can create together. Tomorrow can be better because of our actions and our behaviors today.

11:00 – Jason talks about positive leadership and how to move forward as leaders. Healthy cultures is not just something that comes together without work.

13:00 – Breathing Oxygen, Jason’s new book from Amplify Publishing, has resonated with so many people and he continues to hear great works and thoughts and reviews about the book. Get your Free copy now from Audible with a new membership.

ABOUT THE THERMOSTAT

Conversations and micro-thoughts to engage your mind and heart.

A thermostat is proactive. It sets the temperature in a room. Controls the temperature. Regulates the temperature. But in today’s distracted, fast-paced and digital world, it’s easy for individuals and organizations to act more like thermometers, slipping into reactionary thinking, becoming scattered and inconsistent. The most compelling leaders, teams, organizations, families, or collection of humans of any kind operate in thermostat mode. They calibrate their mind and heart to set the temperature for the vision and culture they want to create. Jason Barger, globally celebrated author, keynote speaker, and founder of Step Back Leadership Consulting, is the host of The Thermostat, a podcast journey to discover authentic leadership, create compelling cultures and find clarity of mission, vision, and values.
